Abstract
The concept of preparing elementary school teachers in the area of physical education is an important task, having received the support of many of the leading practitioners in the field of physical education over the last 35 years. In respect to that task, the purpose of this study was to develop a comprehensive curriculum manual that may be used effectively when teaching a course on elementary school physical education. "A Curriculum Manual for Teaching Courses in Elementary School Physical Education" is divided into four chapters. Chapter 1 provides an introduction, statement of the problem, justification of the study, delimitations, and basic assumptions. Chapter 2 is the reveiw of related literature. Chapter 3 is the instructor's manual which includes goals, objectives, a general instructional plan, evaluation strategies, instructional units, suggested assignments, and annotated reading lists. Chapter 4 is the student syllabus which provides lecture outlines, suggested assignments, and reading lists.
